Simplifying migration from VMware
Cristie Data provides a seamless transition for customers who want to switch from VMware to an alternative platform. Although VMware has dominated virtualization and hyperconverged infrastructure technologies, leading analyst firm, Forrester, forecasts that 20 percent of VMware’s current customers will explore other options during 2024.
Easily transition from VMware to various environments with the help of Cristie.
The combination of Cristie CloneManager replication and migration software and the Cristie Virtual Appliance (VA) offers a streamlined and automated process for migrating VMware source machines to different environments. Target machines in the new environment can be automatically provisioned to match the specifications of the source machines, with the flexibility to adjust system resource scaling as needed during migration.
Streamline the migration of multiple systems through a unified interface.
Manage the migration of multiple systems to physical, virtual, and cloud destinations through a single interface with support for multi-tenancy available in the Cristie VA. Our solution supports a variety of target platforms, including Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Azure Stack HCI, Oracle Cloud, Nutanix AHV, Kubernetes, Amazon S3, and compatible targets, accommodating a wide range of Windows and Linux operating systems.
Migrate and replicate systems to online and offline targets.
CloneManager supports migration and replication to both ‘online’ and ‘offline’ targets. In the context of this software, ‘online’ targets refer to running machines ready to quickly take over from the source system. Such targets offer the advantage of being capable of assuming operations with the minimum downtime.
Virtual disk image files provide an alternative known as an ‘offline‘ target. Virtual machines can be captured as a single image, similar to capturing a system drive in a physical machine as a singular disk image. This image file encompasses all elements, including the operating system configuration, applications, and data. Migration or replication of the system can be directed to a virtual disk image file stored within a private or public cloud environment, rather than to a functioning machine. This approach carries a notable cost advantage, as only cloud storage expenses are incurred to maintain these image files, as opposed to both storage and compute resources.
Offline replication may present a cost-efficient method, particularly when there is flexibility regarding Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs). Network modifications post-replication can also be automated through scripting for both online and offline migrations.
